INSPIRED BY...

Music

Louisa Wise

Louisa Wise and her family have a great band down under in Australia. She kindly sent me her CD "This Blue World", and the main song is inspired by "Sophie's World":
A song of hope, the Big Bang and its rewind, inspired by Jostein Gaarder's book Sophie's World. The ruts/lines concept I also read somewhere (2 inch book of thoughts for the 90's woman displayed in trendy bookshop next to the cash register)

Listen to it:
Excerpt from "This Blue World" (MP3, mono, 602KB)
"This Blue World" (MP3, stereo, 5.3MB)

If anyone knows how to contact Mr. Gaarder, please let me know, because Louisa would like to send him a copy of her CD.

Films

Sofies verden

In 1999, there was a Scandinavian film called "Sofies verden". If you have seen it, you can discuss it on IMDB's message boards.

Or if you speak Danish, you can visit the official web site.

Earlier, in 1995, Twiggy Lawson (the ex-supermodel) played in a TV version for the BBC Late Show.

Games

1998, a CD-ROM was published which, it seems, has gone out of production. So there is no official web site, but I found a description by The Underdogs.

Sophie's World board game

A board game exists which leads you (and up to 5 other players) to a quest for knowledge, visiting key eras of history.
Here's another page which contains some photos.

Other

In 2003, the BBC started the search for Britain's best-loved novels, and "Sophie's World" ended up 175th.

"Fizz" is a novel which tells the history and principles of physics and was inspired by Sophie's World.
